Kentwell Hall

CeraPhi Energy Partners with Kentwell Hall with for Landmark Net Zero Heating Project – PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE CeraPhi Energy Partners with Kentwell Hall with for Landmark Net Zero Heating Project – PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10th December 2025 CeraPhi Energy Partners with Kentwell Hall with for Landmark Net Zero Heating Project – PRESS RELEASE CeraPhi Energy has been appointed to deliver a first of its kind feasibility study for Kentwell Hall, a 16th-century stately home in Suffolk.  With the preservation of this Grade 1 listed building at the heart of the project, CeraPhi would design a non-invasive world-first multi-well deep geothermal heating solution using its proprietary CeraPhiWell monobore borehole system, designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions and operating costs. Currently reliant on an aging oil boiler that consumes excessive quantities of fossil fuel yet barely warms the 400-year-old hall. Kentwell faces the dual challenge of protecting its fragile Tudor fabric and contents while modernising for the future. CeraPhi Energy has stepped up to accept this challenge, confident that its expert team can engineer a solution that can be accommodated seamlessly into the building and is both commercially viable and environmentally transformative. The proposal will sympathetically introduce the 21st-century geothermal technology into this 16th-century landmark, whilst maintaining its authenticity, significance and character. CeraPhi’s innovative closed-loop deep ground source system operates at depths of up to 1500 meters (1.5km), is invisible at the surface and designed to minimise disruption providing consistent, low-carbon heat across the estate. This includes the historic hall, residential quarters, a modern café and events building, nearby ancillary properties, and even the octagonal guard towers. By optimising the system to preserve the Hall’s delicate environment at an optimum 11°C, CeraPhi will ensure both comfort and conservation, while enabling additional estate buildings to be brought into productive use — creating opportunities for new income streams and long-term sustainability. The project is set to explore the installation of multiple deep wells, delivering secure baseload heat with capacity for future expansion.  A Heat-as-a-Service (HaaS) model is being considered, where CeraPhi would build and operate the system at its own cost and sell the heat back to the estate under an energy service agreement. The system will significantly reduce Kentwell Halls operating costs replacing its current oil fired system with baseload 100% clean energy across the estate for generations to come. Gary Williams, COO of CeraPhi Energy, said:“This is a unique challenge and the first project of its kind targeting a prestigious building of this age, proving that geothermal can be harnessed anywhere to cut carbon and deliver secure, affordable heat. We will implement a system that is invisible on the surface yet transformative in performance, a cleaner, smarter and more resilient option that futureproofs Kentwell Hall while preserving its remarkable heritage.” Patrick Phillips, owner of Kentwell Hall, commented:“Kentwell is one of the most beautiful houses in an unrivalled setting, but Historic Houses cannot remain so fixed in the past that they become uninhabitable. Heating has always been a major problem for us, with vast rooms, high ceilings, and centuries-old windows that cannot be altered. We had considered every option over the years; geothermal was not one we had even imagined possible until we met Gary and later visited CeraPhi’s Yorkshire site. For us, sustainability is not a fashion — it is a duty. Our age should consume fossil fuels fairly and leave most for future generations, just as we must avoid polluting the land, water and oceans we share with wildlife. A deep geothermal system could finally allow us to maintain the stable temperature this timber-framed house needs, improve comfort for staff and visitors, and greatly reduce our reliance on oil and electricity across the many ancillary buildings on the estate. “Historic houses have always embraced modernisation when necessary, from coal in 1800 to plumbing, acetylene lighting and high-pressure hot water in the 1900s. If geothermal can work for us, others may follow. We hope CeraPhi’s system delivers everything it promises with minimal disruption and that Kentwell becomes an exemplar for other historic properties seeking a practical path to net zero.”This landmark project demonstrates how cutting-edge next generation deep geothermal innovation can bring historic properties into a sustainable, net zero future, with minimal disruption above ground, Previous PostCeraPhi Energy Awarded Contract to Deliver Groundbreaking Geothermal Decarbonisation Project at Scunthorpe General Hospital – PRESS RELEASE About CeraPhi®  CeraPhi Energy Ltd is UK business based in Norfolk and operating globally focussed on Deep Geothermal Developments with proprietary technology and a mission to unlock the thermal heat underground to deliver sustainable, continuous, and totally green 24/7 baseload energy. CeraPhi Energy Ltd, a leading developer of geothermal energy solutions, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract to implement an innovative low-carbon heating system at Scunthorpe General Hospital, part of the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. The pioneering project will see CeraPhi Energy Ltd transform an existing 550-metre borehole on the hospital site into a proprietary CeraPhiWell geothermal system. This system will be integrated with a new energy centre to supply continuous, reliable, green heat from deep below the grounds of the hospital to a heat network, significantly decarbonising a number of hospital buildings, reducing the site’s reliance on fossil fuels and helping to achieve the trust’s Net Zero targets. This development marks a significant step in the NHS’s commitment to achieving Net-Zero emissions and will position Scunthorpe General Hospital as a trailblazer in public sector decarbonisation. The geothermal heat network is expected to deliver reductions in carbon emissions and long-term energy cost savings.   Gary Williams, Chief Operating Officer of CeraPhi Energy Ltd, commented: “We are immensely proud to be partnering with the NHS on this infrastructure project. Re-purposing an existing asset like the 550m borehole with our CeraPhiWell technology provides an accelerated, cost-effective, and low-risk pathway to delivering baseload geothermal heat. This contract is a testament to the versatility of our ‘plug and play’ system for commercial and public sector decarbonisation, and we are committed to supporting Scunthorpe General Hospital in setting a new standard for sustainable healthcare.” The new energy centre and heat network will provide a stable, efficient source of heating and hot water, crucial for patient and staff comfort as well as clinical operations. By harnessing the constant thermal energy from beneath the ground, the system will offer a robust alternative to traditional gas-fired boilers. Group Deputy Director of Capital Services and Sustainability, Alex Best, said: “We are proud to be one of the most pioneering NHS organisations in the country in using sustainable, green energy to power and heat our hospitals. We believe this is important for a number of reasons. Firstly, we want to create healthy, clean environments for our patients, visitors and staff – and the wider communities living and working around our hospital sites. We also want to invest in technology that will help to make our buildings more efficient, creating comfortable spaces for patients to heal and recuperate, that are more economical to run. This latest phase of works, that will see us using a geothermal system to heat some of our buildings at Scunthorpe is a really exciting development, which we hope will pave the way for similar schemes in the future.” CeraPhi Energy’s work will involve: Converting the pre-drilled 550m borehole into a closed-loop CeraPhiWell system. Designing and installing a new, highly-efficient energy centre to house the necessary heat pump technology. Installing a new heat network to connect multiple hospital buildings to the geothermal heat source. It is thought that this project will be the deepest of its type ever installed in the UK and forms part of CeraPhi Energy’s drive to install low cost and low carbon emission system across the UK. Work commenced in October 2025 and is scheduled to be complete and commissioned by the end of February 2026. This project forms a key component of the hospital’s broader sustainability strategy. Open Day for Pickering Town Geothermal Heat Study PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE Open Day for Pickering Town Geothermal Heat Study Feasibility work on geothermal heat networks for the town of Pickering has been completed, offering a promising vision for a more sustainable future.   In February 2024, Pickering Town Community Interest Company (PTCIC) received a £36,000 UK Shared Prosperity Fund grant from North Yorkshire Council to finance the study.  This project explores the potential of harnessing geothermal energy through both existing, redundant gas wells near the town as well as new boreholes.  To present the findings to the community along with the prospects of delivering a pilot project, PTCIC, in collaboration with Third Energy and CeraPhi Energy, is hosting an open day on Thursday, 7th November, at the Memorial Hall from 2pm to 9pm. The study primarily focused on developing geothermal heat networks that could decarbonise heating for three schools in the northern part of Pickering and the Ryedale Swim & Fitness Centre in the south.  The feasibility results indicate significant benefits, with potential annual energy savings of over £130,000 and reduction of more than 374 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. Additionally, the study identified other potential networks in the town that could offer further financial and environmental gains. These systems would utilise closed-loop wells, meaning no direct interaction with the environment or water tables – drilling to depths of up to 1,800 metres to access temperatures exceeding 45°C. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which provides £2.6 billion for local investment until March 2025, aims to foster community pride, boost local economies, and improve life chances across the UK by investing in infrastructure, businesses, and skills development. Mike Potter, a PTCIC Board Member, said, “This project presents an exciting alternative to fossil fuels with the opportunity to develop new net zero infrastructure while repurposing legacy assets for sustainable and renewable energy use. Not only can we reduce costs and carbon emissions, but we also strengthen the town’s energy security, protecting residents from potential future energy price fluctuations. If successful, this could have massive implications nationally.” Russell Hoare, former MD of Third Energy and now Director of Yorkshire Projects for CeraPhi Energy, added, “We’ve identified several viable geothermal heat networks in Pickering that could significantly reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Engaging with the community has been a crucial part of this project, and we look forward to sharing more details and answering questions at the open day on November 7th.” ENDS Previous PostCeraPhiWell identified as providing energy security in Defence Sustainability Report About CeraPhi®  CeraPhi is a vertically integrated Geothermal Development Company with proprietary technology and a mission to unlock the thermal heat underground to deliver sustainable, continuous, and totally green 24/7 baseload energy through a “plug and Play” sustainable technology platform.  To find out more and to explore investment opportunities with CeraPhi visit www.ceraphi.com For media inquiries and further information, please contact Holly Harvey-Perdicou holly.harvey-perdicou@ceraphi.com
