Norfolk Based CeraPhi Energy Wins Prestigious “Best in Class” Award at the British Renewable Energy Awards 2026

15th June 2026

Recognition confirms CeraPhi’s position as a global leader in geothermal heat and the decarbonisation of the UK’s hardest-to-abate sector

London, United Kingdom, 12 June 2026. CeraPhi Energy is proud to announce that it has been awarded the ‘Best in Class’ Award at the prestigious British Renewable Energy Awards 2026, held at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, Mayfair, London.

Organised by the Renewable Energy Association (REA), the British Renewable Energy Awards are widely regarded as one of the most respected and competitive recognitions in the UK clean energy sector, celebrating the organisations, projects and individuals driving the transition towards a secure, low-carbon energy future.

The award recognises CeraPhi’s outstanding contribution to the advancement of renewable heat through its pioneering deep geothermal technology, innovative Heat as a Service business model, and its growing portfolio of utility-scale geothermal developments across the United Kingdom.

Receiving the award places CeraPhi amongst the leading innovators and clean energy companies in the country and reflects the company’s continued commitment to addressing one of the most difficult challenges facing the energy transition: the decarbonisation of heat.

A Transformational Year for Geothermal Energy

Over the last twelve months, CeraPhi has achieved a series of significant milestones that have helped establish deep geothermal energy as a practical and scalable solution for the UK energy system.

Among these achievements was the delivery of the first NHS deep geothermal project at Scunthorpe General Hospital, where CeraPhi installed the world’s deepest double-loop coaxial closed-loop geothermal system. The project demonstrated how existing subsurface infrastructure can be repurposed to provide reliable, zero carbon baseload heat for critical public sector facilities.

In parallel, the company has continued to expand its national development portfolio and now has more than 160 MW of geothermal heat capacity under development. Through the acquisition and redevelopment of end of life oil and gas well assets, CeraPhi is transforming legacy energy infrastructure into long term renewable heat resources capable of supporting communities, hospitals, universities and industrial facilities for decades to come.

Leading the Future of Renewable Heat

Unlike traditional renewable energy developers, CeraPhi has created a vertically integrated platform that designs, develops, finances, owns and operates geothermal energy systems while supplying heat directly to customers through long-term Heat as a Service agreements.

This model removes technical and financial barriers for customers while enabling rapid deployment of renewable heat without increasing pressure on the national electricity grid.

As governments and industries seek practical pathways to net zero, CeraPhi’s approach is attracting increasing attention as a scalable solution capable of delivering significant carbon reductions while enhancing energy security.

Karl Farrow, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CeraPhi Energy, said:

“This award is a tremendous honour for the entire CeraPhi team and reflects several years of hard work, innovation and determination. We founded CeraPhi with the belief that geothermal energy could become a major contributor to the UK’s energy transition, particularly in the decarbonisation of heat, which remains one of the toughest sectors to address.

Receiving the ‘Best in Class’ Award from the Renewable Energy Association is recognition that deep geothermal has moved from concept to reality. It validates our vision of creating a new generation of renewable heat infrastructure by repurposing existing wells and delivering heat as a service at utility scale.

Most importantly, this achievement belongs to our employees, partners, investors, customers and communities who have supported us on this journey. Together, we are proving that geothermal energy can become a core component of a resilient, affordable and net-zero energy future.”

Building the Next Generation of Renewable Energy Infrastructure

Looking ahead, CeraPhi plans to continue expanding its portfolio of geothermal developments throughout the UK and internationally. The company is actively progressing projects across healthcare, local government, industry and community energy sectors, while continuing to work with policymakers and industry partners to establish geothermal heat as a recognised pillar of the future energy system.

By combining world-class engineering, innovative commercial models and a commitment to long-term sustainability, CeraPhi is helping redefine how renewable heat is delivered and accelerating progress towards national and global net-zero objectives.
